Once again Italians have proved that they need coffee as air. This year astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, head of the scientific experiments of the Italian mission “Futura”, brewed first coffee in space.
She has published photos in her twitter , where she savors an espresso prepared on the International Space Station. The unique capsule espresso machine, developed in conjunction with renowned Italian coffee producer, was installed there in April 2015 as part of an experiment to study the weightlessness properties of liquids. Special tasting Zero-G cup is included to the equipment of 20-kg device. According Cristoforetti, space espresso with its taste, aroma and texture is as good as brewed on Earth one. Maybe soon at gravity there will enjoy freshly brewed Porto Rosso coffee.
