Italian musician Nicola Fasani, acting under the pseudonym Faso, and poet Guido Catalani revived an old tradition that came from the Viennese coffee house.
They offered visitors in one of the coffee houses in the historic town of Treviso to pay for a drink of his own poems. The organizers share immediately there was a question – is it possible to pay for the bad poetry good coffee? Faso sure: fragrant and quality drink may be an incentive to write better for the novice poet.
World Poetry Day (21 March) is celebrated since 1999, it is set by UNESCO and aims to support small publishers, libraries, literary clubs. The role of poetry in the dialogue among cultures is enormous.
